#SaveXandrie or #KillXandrie

Now that you have read The Eclipse of Power, what’s that? You haven’t read it yet? What are you waiting for? This blog will make so much more sense if you have read book 3! 🙂 That’s a link to my Amazon book 3 page in case you didn’t know. (insert diabolical laugh here)

For those who have read book 3, what do you think about Xandrie? She is in book 4 as well, which goes up next week for pre-sale and will be available May 13th. Do you like her character? Is she a great “good guy”? Or should I give her a masterful death? I’ll start writing book 5 later next week and plan on making it full length so you have some time to either message me here and let me know what you want. Or to tweet one of the above hashtags, your choice.

Xandrie started out as a “red shirt” character. I was killing so many un-named characters that I asked my writing group for some names. Xandrie is an author and she volunteered the use of her name. I did promise to kill her, but ended up liking her character. B’Lana needed a girl friend to hang with, since she only had guys around, so Xandrie has become that person to her.

Don’t forget to tweet #SaveXandrie or #KillXandrie and get your copy of The Eclipse of Power at Amazon today!

In case you missed it, here is a snippet from Book 3:

“Alright, listen up everyone. Since we have so many warriors together here, why don’t we see how well we can enact the Alpha One protocols? For those of you who are new, this is the plan to see how well we can defend the portal from an attack on this side.

“The parameters are that we get a call from HQ that a large number of rippers and hybrids are at the portal and it looks like they are planning an attack back home. We need to get there as quickly as we can and set up a perimeter of protection. We kill any and all enemies who come near, even if they come from Sendryl to Earth. With this scenario, it is possible that the guards on the Sendryl side have been compromised. If you have any questions before we head out I suggest you ask your squad leader, they have all been briefed on this scenario.”

Ash rounded up our squad and we headed out to our Hummer to get to the portal as quickly as possible. While we were running to our Hummer I noticed that two more squads were making their way to their vehicles just as quickly, while two squads were still in the square by the office buildings. Those two were newer teams and hadn’t done any drills with us yet.

“Command One, this is Squad 1. We have an Alpha One training scenario live, I repeat Alpha One training.” Mike’s voice was heard over the com letting the commander know what we were up to. He had a velvety smooth voice that made me smile. I wondered what a human woman would think if she heard him speak? I bet she would do whatever he told her to do.

After we pulled up to the area near the portal, I opened up my mind again to see if I could locate any rippers. I almost wet my pants; I heard so many voices in my head. And they were almost to our location!

“Ash, I can hear them coming. We have to hurry up and get into position. Can we call in reinforcements from Sendryl yet?” I looked to Ash as I said it and I knew he heard my voice in his head. One more ability I was going to have to practice once we finished off the approaching enemies.

“Toren, call up Central Command and let them know that we are here training for an Alpha One scenario. And request they keep an open line.” Ash looked right at me as he spoke to the new leader of Squad 2. I could see the hard edge as it entered his eyes. He was already in the zone and prepared to do battle.

The third squad walked up and started to spread out as we heard the bushes rustling. Everyone quickly and quietly took up positions and prepared for battle. I looked around at everyone and noticed that a couple of them didn’t look like they were taking this seriously. Two guys from Squad 3 whispered, but their squad leader looked at them and mouthed to shut up.

I heard them, the rippers were about to come out of the bushes and we only had three squads there at the moment. I told Ash I could hear the rippers. And that was when he led Squad 1 forward to engage the enemy as they appeared.

Cast of Characters

Hi Everyone, one of my readers asked about the cast of characters. Starting with Book 3, which comes out this Friday, there is a list at the end of the book. For those of you who want it now, I have put it in the blog. Be sure to read the last entry as there is a hint of a new story arc to come!

B’Lana – Main character who started out as a human and became a fae hybrid, she is a member of Squad 1.

Lancer – Leader of Squad 1, fae warrior who changed B’Lana into a hybrid.

Ash – Asst. Leader of Squad 1, fae warrior who cares deeply for B’Lana.

Commander Terra – Leader of the Earthen West Coast Squads of Fae Warriors. He is in LA.

Fillie – Dragonette who is bonded to B’Lana.

Toren – Current Leader of Squad 2 in LA. Friend to B’Lana, Lancer, and Ash.

Cash – Asst Leader of Squad 2 in LA. Friend to B’Lana, Lancer, and Ash.

Netty – Best healer on Sendryl. She occasionally visits LA when they need a great healer.

DeeDee – B’Lana’s human best friend. They grew up together and are basically sisters.

Xandrie – Fae warrior who is a friend of Ash. She used to date Lancer but left him for Cash. Who she later broke up with.

Callie – Cash’s sister

Anise – Ash’s sister

Cove – Ripper who works in the men’s clothing store, he called Merv to the mall after meeting B’Lana.

High Judge Cyrus Tepal – Presided over Lancer’s trial and a member of the High Council.

Ripper Master – He was in charge of the rippers in the LA area. He held B’Lana captive in the sewers.

Sennafae – These are the fae warriors from Sendryl. They are on Earth to keep the rippers from kidnapping and changing human beings into hybrid rippers (aka Nosferatu).

Rippers – These are the vampires we see on Earth. They were once Sennafae hundreds of years ago. Now they are the offspring of the Sennafae who contracted a disease but were healed of said disease. On Sendryl they look like a hung-over version of the Sennafae with bags under their red eyes. On Earth they develop the vampire look, they have bright red eyes with dark red spider web veins around their eyes.

Hybrid Sennafae – A human who has been transformed into a fae. There hasn’t been one for almost 200 years. Until B’Lana.

Hybrid Rippers – a human who has been transformed into a ripper, or vampire. Also known as a Nosferatu. They have very limited brain functions. Blood and killing is all they think about.

Fae Warrior – Short for Sennafae warrior. B’Lana calls all of them fae.

Sendryl – The home planet of both Sennafae and Ripper. It is another dimension from Earth. There are portals all over Earth that lead to various places on Sendryl. There is also one known portal on Sendryl that leads to another world, but it has been determined that it is too dangerous to go there so that portal is closed.

#SaveXandrie or #KillXandrie

What do you think about the name “Xandrie” for a fae warrior? She is sexy and tough! No one messes with Xandrie and walks away alive.

I borrowed her name from an author friend of mine, Xandrie Kovak @XandrieKovak. I told her I was going to kill her character, but as I got to writing my Xandrie, she just became this great fae warrior. I couldn’t kill her in book 3. I am writing book 4 now and I still haven’t killed her, yet. Although, book 4 is only half way done. I could still do it if the situation was right.

What do you think about Xandrie? She is quickly becoming good friends with B’Lana, and in Book 3 we find out she has a history with Ash, Lancer, and Cash. Xandrie actually dated two of them some years ago. The first one she dated, she walked out on to be with the second guy. The third guy she was only ever friends with.

I could kill her in a blaze of glory…

Or I could keep her and have her become a love interest for one of the guys. While being a great friend to B’Lana.

Tell me what you think by tweeting one of the hashtags: #SaveXandrie or #KillXandrie.

Before I finish book 5, I will look to see what is trending to decide what happens to Xandrie.

Book 2 Snippet

Hi Everyone, Book 2 – Eclipse of the Soul is available now for reading. So I thought I would tempt you a bit with a little snippet from early on in the book:

“Lancer, are you actually complimenting something I did? I think I’m gonna die from shock!” I playfully said as I put the back of my hand to my forehead and faked a swoon right onto the picnic table. Sadly, I closed my eyes when I did so and I ended up falling into Ash’s lap.

Lancer was not too happy. He gave me a very stern look which made me feel like a little kid who was about to be scolded for giving my little brother a swirly or something.

Of course Ash used that opportunity to put his arms around me, to keep me from falling on the ground, or so he said. But he had the look of a cat that just ate the canary. Then he winked at me and let me go.

“B’Lana, Ash, this is not the time to play games. You need to be on constant guard so stop messing around. B’Lana, you especially need to be on your best behavior or you won’t be going out anytime soon.”

I just sighed and said, “Yes, sir.”

After that we started walking towards a nearby alley, and I chose to walk next to Maliki so Lancer would stop giving me dirty looks.

“You know, he’s just looking out for you. I know you think you can handle yourself out here, but you really don’t know what it’s like to fight a ripper. Once word gets out about you, they’ll come after you first, most likely several at a time. None of them have seen a fae hybrid and have no clue what you can do. So they are going to test you and if they kill you in the process, they won’t lose any sleep.” Maliki was cool to talk to. But he was also a realist. He told it to me like it was.

At that point I looked around to check out what people were doing. I noticed several girls who seemed to be trying to walk away quickly. They were whispering and kept looking back behind them, like someone was following them. They seemed afraid of something. One girl, she was maybe five feet six inches at best, with long blonde hair  was wearing a coral short sleeved top, a jean jacket and designer jeans with three inch wedge heels that matched her top. She was wiping a tear from her face. Her friend had this horrified look, almost like she had seen a ghost. I knew something was up with them. It may not have been ripper related, but something was definitely wrong.

“Hey Lancer,” I said as I was making my way closer to him. “Look at those two girls across the street coming this way. They seem very scared, like maybe someone is following them. Do you think it could be ripper related? Look at how they keep looking behind them and are walking fast, despite the fact that one of the girls is in heels.”

Lancer looked over at them and then started scanning the crowd behind them. He noted that the sun had been down for at least thirty minutes and a larger crowd back where the girls came from started parting and quickly moving away.

“Alright, there might be rippers out in the street. Maliki stay here with B’Lana and keep her safe. The rest of you come with me and spread out to check the alley behind where that group seems to be quickly moving away from.”
